Keithlin Caroo-Afrifa
Founder and Executive Director of Helen’s Daughters (HD), a nonprofit organization committed to addressing gender inequity in the agricultural sector, while building the individual and collective capacity of women farmers in the Caribbean region. Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from University of Puerto Rico and Master’s degree in International Studies from Central Connecticut State University.Ashoka Fellow, Echoing Green Fellow and Women Leaders for the World Fellow. In 2021, appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador for Sustainable Development by the InterAmerican Institute on Agricultural Cooperation and conferred the title of “Member of the British Empire” by HM Queen Elizabeth for humanitarian services.Before founding HD, dedicated five years to serving at the United Nations Secretariat, working across multiple portfolios, including Peacekeeping and Political Affairs. However, the decision to shift focus to HD was deeply influenced by her grandmother, a farmer and market vendor, whose legacy inspired the organization's inception. Witnessing the transformative impact of HD and its ability to transcend borders, she committed herself entirely to its mission, extending the organization’s reach to three Caribbean nations.
